Shamanic Healing Rattle - $19.99

These rattles are made from a group in Rwanda, Africa that call themselves Twisungane’ – the direct translation of this into English is ‘we join together.’ This group is made up of about ten people who have joined together to help each other. They were all neighbors with different skills (in pottery, wood and weaving) and they have come together as they believe that this will make them stronger and better positioned to make their business grow and be prosperous. The group lives in a rural area about 20 minutes outside of a town called Gitarama. Their village is called Mubuga which is in Shogwe, Muhanga which is in the Southern Province of Rwanda. The plant that the main part of the rattle is from a plant called the ‘Uruyuzi’ in the local language. It is a plant similar to a Marrow. To make the rattles, they dry out the gourd (from the Uruyuzi) then use a heated piece of metal to burn holes in a pattern on the out side. They then fill it with the dried fruit or seeds (from the Amaheke). They then get a stick that they have shaped and put a pattern on and push it into the gourd. The stick goes all the way through until it is poking out the top. To ensure that the stick stays in place they use glue. The rattles range in size from about 7" to 12" long and from 4" to 5" in diameter. Each one is unique, as they are each individually made. The price listed is for just one rattle, the picture of three rattles is to show that they come in different sizes and each one is unique. I have these rattles shipped to the United States where they are blessed in a special Shamanic Healing Ceremony including smudging and sprinkled with Shamanic Holy water.
